Back in business

Okay, I think this blog is back in business again, and it should finally be visible to almost everyone.  The css rollovers are wonky in Netscape and Firefox, and I don’t know why that is, but it’s a problem for another day.  The title image doesn’t show up in Firefox or Opera, and the page margins aren’t correct in Opera.  However, all the entries can be read, and I guess that’s the important thing for everyone desperately needing to find those Kaitlin and Rick video clips from SNL.  I couldn’t check the blog in Safari because I don’t have a Mac, and at the risk of saying something snotty, I’ll just leave it at that.

We had thunder, thunder, thunder today… it started at 4:30 am and didn’t ease off until around 9 in the evening.  It made for a fun, exciting day of no showers and no sleep.  I gave Eli a 2mg bar of Xanax on three difference occasions today and I swear it didn’t make an iota of difference.  I think she briefly fell asleep after each pill (like, for about 10 minutes), but then she was right back up on her feet again.  Can you imagine taking 6mg of Xanax in a 12 hour period?  Well, maybe you can, but I can’t… I’d be out like a light after just 2mg, if not less.  Eli’s no lightweight—I should enter her in a drinking contest.

We’ve had server problems this week which I managed to resolve, but I think they were caused by someone being naughty and using one of our domains as the return address on spam.  I found 170000+ email messages on the server, so no wonder the thing was in a knot.  I just deleted the whole domain for now until the mess dies down.  I’ve also been scrambling all week make some of our websites conform to some new federal regulations going into effect tomorrow, because the government apparently doesn’t have enough stuff to regulate and they took on a new project.  Tomorrow it’s our first vet trip in a couple of weeks.  Keno will be going in for her “I’m a crazed cockatoo” bloodwork and x-rays, and Frank is going in for bloodwork and for me to confess to the vet that I’ve been giving him Buspar behind her back.  He’s been on it for about three weeks now and I haven’t been bitten by him since, so I think it’s helping, but I obviously shouldn’t be medicating him without veterinary supervision.  Desperate times call for desperate measures, though, and I needed to do something to prevent more attacks on my legs while we waited to get paid so we could make the appointment.  Life is so much easier with money, and yes, money does buy happiness and you can’t convince me that it doesn’t.

A note to Celine, who started a new university program—I’m glad you’re enjoying it so much and learning so much and feeling motivated :)  You’ve got a great head on your shoulders and it’s good to put it to use.  I’m going to try to get caught up on my emails by Friday, but only if I have a box of Dewberry cookies as encouragement.  As for the kitten, you’re doing a good thing.  Nancy and I are offering to be its financial foster parents, so you tell Rosella to go play with her chickens and to leave the kitten alone.  Poor little thing… I hope it’s got somewhere to live with a person who’ll give it a nice life.  You’re a wonderful person, Celine, and even though I think the concept of heaven is a crock, I’m sure you’re going there and it will be filled with cats who’ve just had baths and who are resting quietly on unmolested “Hello Kitty” blankets”.

  1. I have no problem with being the kitty’s financial foster parents (unless it needs vet work that I haven’t forseen), but it would really help if I found it.  We, too, are having thunderstorms, which doesn’t make it the best time for a kitty to be wandering about.

But if it helps, our neighbor said that she reunited the kitty with its mother, so that’s a plus.  She says they live somewhere in their laundry room/backyard, but she’s not sure where.  Also, the said mother is PREGNANT! Jeez, like she needs more babies!  First thing I’ll do when I win the lottery - neuter and spay all these frigging cats and clean them up and give them homes.  The poor thing looked like it woulda been gorgeous too.  Hopefully it survives for the night and I can find it tomorrow.

BTW, Barney ate the leftover kitty formula! He likes it! (I hope giving it to him wasn’t a bad idea - it wasn’t contaminated or anything)

p.s. I officially have a crush on my sculpture teacher.  Gah. I want her to stop talking to me! (But I also don’t want her to stop :p )

  2. <<financial foster parents>>

I meant foster parent.  Me.  One. Shh, don’t tell Nancy or her head will explode.

Also - do you have other flavors of Dewberry there and have you tried them? I think there’s peach, strawberry, and Dewberry Tarts.

  3. I hope kitty is doing well—did you ever find it?

As for Dewberry, we only have one flavour, blueberry.  I thought “Dewberry” was some cutesy word for “blueberry”, so now I’ve got to rethink that.  I’ll look for other flavours, but if we’ve only got blueberry it’s okay with me.  It’s yummy!

Celine’s in love with her sculpture teacher, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah!  Was that supportive enough of me?

  4. Haven’t found it, but the neighbor’s maid said she saw it today and it seemed okay.  But maybe she hasn’t seen it and she’s just telling me that to make me feel better.

Blueberry Dewberry is my favorite, tied with strawberry.  The tarts taste like feet though.
