bzzzz… Coffee Fest 2006… bzzzz

Don’t be alarmed.  All that buzzing you hear is coming from between my ears, where the remnants of a few espressos are still wreaking havoc, hours after I consumed them.  As a rule, Flippy and I don’t drink caffeine, but it’s hard to avoid it when you attend Coffee Fest, a coffee trade show.  It features aisles and aisles of vendors, begging you to sample their espresso blends, their coffee-based frappuccino mixes, and anything else they can figure out how to make which is related to coffee.  The show also features fruit-based drinks, like you’d find at a coffee shop, and desserts aimed at the retail market, especially biscotti.  I ate a LOT of biscotti today.

Here’s the caffeinated delight which caused me to sweat profusely while making my hands shake.  Still, it had amazing crema and tasted wonderful:

  1. I never knew what crema was until I went to Italy.  The Italians make the most divine coffee in the world—definitely worth the jitters!

  3. It really is our favourite convention of all the ones we attend each year (we usually go to at least four different ones relating to graphic design and pet merchandising as well).  Everyone is friendly and happy, and why shouldn’t they be—the place is full of coffee and desserts!

  4. How glorious! I’d never want to leave. Coffee and desserts, two of my favorite things. Sadly, I’ve had to recently change to decaf, yet another sign of age, but I can still biscotti with the best of them!

  5. I love coffee! I’m cutting back, though….noticed that when I checked out the online news in the mornings as I drank my coffee, my foot would tap back and forth like a metronome.

  6. We cut out almost all caffeine a couple of years ago, as we thought it might be contributing to headaches.  I also occasionally take Ativan for anxiety, and I thought it was stupid to drink something which agitated me if I was just going to need to take a pill to calm down from it later :)  We buy green coffee beans online and then roast them at home, so it gives us a good selection of decaf blends to choose from.  That’s our one complaint about Coffee Fest—there are fewer and fewer decaf distributors there each year.
