Christmas tunes and dancing cats
Do you have any favourite Christmas/holiday songs? This year I’ve fallen in love with Sarah McLachlan’s new CD of Christmas music, Wintersong, and I’ve been entertained by the Barenaked Ladies album, Barenaked for the Holidays—it’s sincere but “light”, and nice mix of both Christmas and Hanukkah songs. As a teenager, my favourite holiday album was by Boney M—the songs were reggae-flavoured and catchy. We just bought a few DVDs of classic holiday TV specials, like Rudolph and Frosty, so lots of those songs evoke nice memories, too.
Speaking of catchy music here’s a fun little “dancing elf” video starring Bing: Bing the dancing elf. Flippy made it, and you can make your own, and even add lyrics. It’s silly and funny, and I’m going to make a couple for my niece and nephew.
Finally, here’s a holiday widget for your blog. Yeah, I’m a bit late on the ball on this one, so it’s only good for another couple of days (and I missed Hanukkah altogether), but next year, I’ll be right on top of things. This is my all-Canadian Christmas tree, followed by my “Go Leafs Go” tree:
Hi Leigh-Ann, Flippy and all the furkids. Wishing you all the most joyous Christmas.
I am listening to Sarah as I write this.. so beautiful!Posted by Simply Coll on 12/24 at 09:56 AMI have a weak spot for the Transiberian Orchestra and Manheim Steamroller when I’m driving in the car around the holidays.
I also love classic songs like Drummer Boy, Silent Night and Christmas renditions of Canon in D.
Hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas. My furry babies are still tussling over who gets the bows off the presents under the tree.
