Fromm Family Pet Food
I wanted to finally write some entries about our experiences at SuperZoo, and thought I’d start by telling you about the free samples of cat and dog food we were given by the people at Fromm Family Foods. To be completely honest, I thought the guy working the booth (at least, the guy who spoke to us), was a bit of a pushy jerk. He bad-mouthed some competitor’s foods, for example, and that bugs me. However, if you ignore the pushy sales guy, the food itself was quite spectacular. It looks great to the human eye, and it smells good, so you really get the sense that you’re feeding a quality product. We took home canned dog food and canned cat food, and the cats just gobbled the stuff up (I’ll have to ask Flippy for a report from the dogs, but I’m sure it was similarly positive). I was a bit surprised about the cats’ enthusiasm, because one of the main ingredients in the Fromm food is tomato paste, and the food has a definite tomato look and smell. The cats were a bit suspicious, but after one bite they practically inhaled it. We tried all four canned cat entrees, and all were hits. The photos on the website are very realistic—you open a can of “Shredded Chicken Entree”, and you find a can of shredded chicken in sauce (lots of shredded chicken). I’d happily feed this to our pets if I could find it, but they don’t have any retailers in Nevada at all.
I just responded to your question on my blog about Elvis and eating raw (the short answer: mostly, no) but I have the Fromms cat kibble. I do mix and match dry foods on him (I also have a bag of Wellness) and he doesn’t eat a ton of dry, so I keep it in the fridge.
You are right, the Fromms has good ingredients and even the kibble smells good! The place I buy it doesn’t carry the canned so I haven’t tried that.
Dang, that SuperZoo sounds like great fun! There’s a large Pet expo every spring on the west side of the state, I need to get to that one of these years.Posted by Carina on 10/01 at 02:55 AMThe biggest pet expo is every October in Chicago—it’s called the H.H. Backer Christmas Trade Show. It’s closer to you than to me, so you should go and report back about it :)
