Goodnight, Raven
My condolences to Christie of Dogged Blog, who lost her Scottish Deerhound, Raven, to cancer yesterday. I’ve been following Raven’s story via Dogged Blog, and the bottom fell out of my stomach when I read that Raven passed away yesterday. It’s not as if I know Christie, yet I feel like I know her after following the course of Raven’s illness. I was especially moved by the entry Christie wrote about having “good days and bad days” while Raven was still alive, because as a pet owner I know that sometimes I worry away the good times because I’m worried about when the good times might end. I’ve turned into my mother, who was upset about the death of our dog for years before the dog actually died of old age. Christie did a wonderful job of being a great mom to Raven, and really went the extra mile to look into alternative treatments for Raven’s osteosarcoma. I know I learned a lot from her writings, although I hope it’s information I won’t ever have to use. If you want to know more about osteosarcoma in dogs, check out Christie’s Scottish Deerhound website.
Oh boy, can I ever relate to the concept of “worrying away the good times”. I never had a name for it before, but that is exactly what I do.
I have never read Christie’s blog, but I feel for her. It is never easy to lose someone you love.
