Hair Raiser Coffee

I wanted to do a little shout out to the nice people at Hair Raiser Coffee.  We discovered their dark roast coffee at CoffeeFest, and have since been enjoying it immensely.  You may know we’re “all decaf, all the time” people, and it’s tough to find decent decaf coffee blends, so we were thrilled that a premium coffee like Hair Raiser was available in a decaf roast.  Hair Raiser is a dark roast coffee, a French roast—the beans have that wonderful dark roast oil on them, and they’ve managed to roast the beans as darkly as possible without hitting the point of burning them.  I sometimes roast my own coffee beans and know how fine the line is between “dark” and “burnt” (it’s about 10 seconds, frankly).  Anyway, if you’re into dark roast coffee and are tired of what you find at Starbucks or the grocery store, treat yourself to a bag of Hair Raiser (you can order via their website).  They have quite a few full-caf blends to choose from, as well as their decaf, and you can even buy Hair Raiser undies.  Nothing says good times like drinking coffee in your underwear.

  1. Sounds like a cup of heaven! We’ve had to go all decaf, all the time, too, and I’m missing a good, rich French roast. Think I’ll have to order me a bag or two. Thanks oodles!

  2. Hey, funny that. I am drinking coffee in my underwear this very minute!
Decaf is the brew of the devil, like fat free brownies and sugar free ice cream. I need coffee that slaps me upside the head and screams in my ear “WAKE UP!!!! NOW!!!!!” Decaf don’t play dat game.
I am scrambling to get caught up in both my online and real life lives. Mini vacation followed by unrelenting 10-12 hour work days (right through this upcoming weekend, again, sigh), I’m running behind with everything. Got done early with work, have to wait for the plaster to dry. Four whole hours free until I have to leave for dog class, yippee!
That is why I am home with the AC on, on the computer, in the middle of the afternoon drinking coffee, in my underwear.

(You roast your own beans, really?)

  3. Diana, I hope you’ll enjoy the coffee.  I really like a nice dark roast, and although Starbucks has some good blends, I occasionally want something different.

Carina, caffeine is unfortunately my dire enemy because of my FMS.  I don’t know if it interacts with my anti-depressant, or if it’s just a standard reaction, but it makes me very agitated and I feel just awful.  I used to think nothing of caffeine, then started to realize I felt like crap after I drank it, so I gave it up and I’m good.  I still get a mental lift from the wonderful aroma smile Yes, we do roast our own beans, and it’s really easy (and fun).  Green coffee beans are so cheap—about $5 per pound—and there’s so much variety!  Check out http://www.sweetmarias.com if you want to get started with a small roaster.

  4. Decaf is all we have in our house.. but I must admit that somedays I can hardly wait to get to work to have a cup of the real stuff.  I am always on the look out for a good blend of decaf.

  5. I love dark roast coffee, but for a good, everyday, all ‘round decaf blend, try Starbucks Decaf Light Note.  I know it sounds wimpy, but it honestly has a full flavour which is very enjoyable.  Of all the Starbucks coffees, my favourites are their Decaf Holiday blend (a dark roast), and their Breakfast Blend (a lighter roast, but alas, not available in decaf).  Light Note is the closest thing I can find to Breakfast Blend in decaf.
