Happy Canada Day!
It’s Canada Day (once known as “Dominion Day"), the day which makes me almost as homesick as Christmas. The site I linked to says Canada is 140 years old this year… perhaps I’ll manage to get home for a visit before the country turns 150. Canada and I, we’re 99 years apart in age, so it’s definitely a May/December relationship. Flippy and I should do something “Canadian” today, to celebrate, but I’m not sure what… maybe we’ll order a pizza with Canadian bacon (aka, “ham"). You can watch Parliament Hill get ready for today’s celebrations by checking out the images on Hill Cam, and there will probably be some live content on the CBC.ca website. Here’s what’s going on at just after 6am, local time—some hardy souls seem to be up and already working:
Today will also be the ”Concert for Diana” at Wembley Stadium in London. The concert is supposed to be broadcast live around the world, and if you go to the main link I just posted, you’ll see a drop-down menu where you can chose your location. You’ll then get a list of places where you can view the concert. Here in the US, NBC supposedly has a primetime special, but both MTV and VH-1 are supposed to be broadcasting the concert live. VH-1’s website is supposed to be streaming it, as well.
I swiped this from the official Canada Day website—I guess it’s supposed to be a maple leaf, looking all hip and youthful:
Happy CANADA DAY!!!
A shot of maple syrup for you!
