I forgot a few things…
I came back because as soon as I stepped away from the computer, I realized I’d forgotten a few things.
I traded in our digital cable converter box for an HDTV converter box. I’ve wanted one for years, but the cable company charged an outrageous installation fee that I refused to pay. They recently added a “do-it-yourself” option, so I we decided to finally give it a try with our “HDTV-compatible” television. All I can say is, “Wow”! The picture quality is incredible, and there really is huge difference between “standard” and “HD”. So far we’ve only watched some network programming (“American Idol”, for example), but I’m really, really impressed by it. We get HD versions of all the “big” networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox), as well as HD versions of the movie channels we already subscribe to. We’ve worried that the picture on our TV was sort of washed-out, but it’s obvious now that it was just the cable signal and not the TV. If you have the chance to add an HD box to your TV I definitely recommend it—now I just need the return of the NHL so I can really enjoy the games.
When Matt and I were working outside today, we had a conversation about how creepy the new Pope is (at least, that’s the conversation *I* was having). Matt asked me what the largest religion was in Canada, and I realized I had no idea. I guessed Anglican, but then remembered that Catholicism is king in Quebec. I also thought of all the eastern European Lutherans, the Scottish Presbyterians, and even immigrant populations of Sikhs. So, I don’t know which religion is dominant in Canada, but I’m sticking with “Anglican” because it confuses Americans who’ve never heard the word before.
Oatfield’s Creamy Licorice Toffee is delicious—I’m prying it off my molars as I type.
I realize I haven’t written about any books in a while, and that’s because I’m a slacker. I’ve finished two books and need to write little reviews of them soon before I forget what they were about. I’m also going to start writing reviews of some products from Footsmart, because my plantar fasciitis pain is verging on unbearable. It has me hobbling around like an old lady all day, and when I sit my heel feels like it’s being stabbed with a hot poker. I’ve been bothered by this off and on for years but this time none of the usual remedies seem to help. I’ll keep you posted about my experiments.
