Kittens on ice (skates, that is)

It’s Saturday, Hockey Night in Canada is on, and we’ve got three kittens to name.  What to do, what to do?  Give them all hockey-related names, of course!  Their eventual owners might change their names, but for the time being the black male kitten is “Tie” (after Tie Domi), the white male kitten is “Scampy” (after Ray Scampinello) (and because he’s so small, we can call him “Shrimp Scampi” for fun), and the female striped kitten is “Bing”, a play on “Lady Byng” (the hockey trophy), and also it’s Christmas-y because it’s like “Bing Crosby”.  We’ll make sure our “Bing/Byng” is spayed so there are no children to abuse :p

All the kittens are still doing well and still gaining weight.  I try to weigh them each day around 4pm just to keep a close eye on things as I still don’t really know what I’m doing, and I want to make sure I catch any problems quickly.  Scampy just does not eat as well as his siblings, and for each ounce they gain, he only gains about half an ounce.  When I feed him he fusses and only shows interest in the bottle for about 30 seconds, so I try to feed him first and then feed him again after I’m finished with the other two.  I think we’ll take them into the vet on Tuesday so they can be checked out.  Overall, I’m enjoying myself, although I feel like I’m constantly doing laundry.

  1. You may want to call the vet for advice ahead of time. Some vets say that unless there is a problem, better not to bring the little guys into a clinic where they can be exposed to things brought in by sick cats. Your vet will let you know how he/she feels about it.

    I think that the names are purrrfect.  The picture that you posted of your fuzzy charges is adorable.  I look forward to more!
