Local boy hits the big time
Well, he’s not really a “local boy”—Doug Elfman is originally from New Orleans, but spent a long time writing for the Las Vegas Review Journal as a music critic. That’s how Flippy and I got to know him—we talked about Shania Twain, we mocked Toby Keith, and we collectively lusted after Liz Phair. Doug was fun and funny and talented, and we were very sad when he was snapped up by the Chicago Sun Times to serve as their TV critic. The only good thing about the move was that we now knew someone in a position of TV power who loved “Veronica Mars” as much as we did.
It was with great pride that we discovered an article by Doug linked on the front page of the Huffington Post a few days ago, Did media miss real Colbert story?. It’s biting and sarcastic and, as Stephen Colbert would say, “truthy”—give it a read if you have some time.
