Gratuitous bottle shots

Taken last night, here’s the current roster of obligatory, “aw, aren’t they sweet when they drink from a bottle?!?!” shots:

We’ve given them the temporary names of (from top to bottom), Anya, Charlie, Olivia, and Liam.  Charlie is a girl, but with that mustache it was either “Charlie” or “Adolph”, and Charlie seemed more unisex :P I actually wanted to call her “Frida Kahlo”, but it seemed a bit pretentious.

Anya (named after the demon “Anyanka” from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) is the runt of the litter, but she continues to grow and get stronger every day.  Today both eyes are partially open, and her little URI seems to have gone away.  Olivia looks rather disheveled in her photo because I had to towel her off after her brother peed on her.  Boys, sheesh.  “Olivia” started out as “Oliver”, but whoops, didn’t get that one right ;-)

Today we made another trip to the vet as all the kittens had enemas!  Fun for the whole family!  I started to worry yesterday when I hadn’t seen one iota of poop from any kitten, and was told that if it hadn’t happened by today to bring them in.  So, in they went.  First they were “encouraged” with a lubricated thermometer, but nothing happened.  Then they had enemas, and a few rock hard, dried pieces of poop resulted.  When I got home and fed them again, only Anya produced any normal poop, and it was like an entire week’s worth—yuck.  I’m still waiting for the other three to give up the goods.

  1. The bit of advice I heard concerning that is adding a little canned pumpkin in the formula. I think it’s a teaspoon per bottle or so, but I’m not sure. The important thing is to make sure it dissolves well.
