Rory goes home
Rory Gilmore on TV might attend Yale, but our little “Rory the kitten” will be attending the University of Pennsylvania (studying Veterinary Medicine, no doubt). Today my brother and sister-in-law came over to have dinner on the last night of their Las Vegas vacation, and they just fell in love with Rory, and will be taking her home with them tomorrow afternoon. They called their airline to make a reservation for the kitten ($80), and they bought a pet carrier on their way back to their hotel after dinner. Their airline keeps insisting the kitten doesn’t require any paperwork, yet I’m pretty suspicious of that—I’m sure she needs a health certificate to travel. I’m going to set my alarm clock for 8am to call our vet’s office to get their opinion, and if necessary, to take her in first thing in the morning to have that done. My brother will come back to the house tomorrow morning to pick her up, and then she’ll be off to her new home in Pennsylvania, to meet her two older brothers, Tucker and Gilmour.
I’ve put together a little “care package” for her—a couple of her favourite toys, two cans of cat food, and the little bed she likes to sleep in. I figure those things will help her make the transition to living in a new place. It was nice that she was able to spend some time with my brother and sister-in-law tonight, and she seems to really like them. I hope her older brothers will welcome her to their household and teach her all the cool places to hide and get in trouble.
We’ll miss having her around. It’s been a lot of fun to watch her come out of her shell this past week, and she’s so affectionate and loving. She hops up in our arms and does her weird squeaky “meow”, which we interpret as, “Are you my mother?” I’m glad I’ll still have the chance to watch her grow up, and I’m glad my brother and his wife love cats like I do—I know she’ll have a good home. She’ll always be welcome to come back here, too.
I’m so glad Rory has a good home to go to! She’s absolutely adorable.

She is truly adorable, it’s nice you’ll be able to watch her grow up. I know you’ll miss her for a while though.Posted by Carina on 05/20 at 11:33 PMVegas (the cute kitty formerly known as Rory) has made it back to P-ville safe and sound. We did a not so graceful introduction to the boys last night. Let’s just say there was a lot of growling and hissing. She appears to be a very good hider as well… she’s been *hiding* in the house for the last hour and we haven’t been able to find her. Tucker’s big grin is making me a little suspicious.
