Sometimes it’s like trying to get your kids to sit still at the Sears Portrait Studio.

I think the kittens are almost weaned.  They all eat solid food (Liam is the only one who will eat dry kibble, the others eat canned), but two of them still ask for the bottle.  They don’t want the bottle exclusively, just as a “side order”.  Our last set of kittens were all weaned completely by this age, but I know I can’t rush it, and I’m trying to be patient with them.  I hope their new family might be able to pick them up next Saturday, but I want to make sure they’re eating really well and consistently first.  In the meantime, we’re enjoying watching them running and hopping, and being happy.

  3. Charlie is sticking her tongue out at you, Susie.  She knows you’ve accused her of wanting to invade Poland!

  4. Ha!  I totally deserve it Leigh-Ann!
But—Charlie’s a chick?  Like the Perfume?
    (Record scratch SFX)

Whoops! My bad.  Like they say to the tuna mascot, “Sorry Charlie!”

  5. Charlie is a girl.  We were really stuck on names for her, as “Frida Kahlo” seemed weighty, and all the good moustachioed names were male.  So, we settled on “Charlie”, as in “Charlie Chaplin”, and we figured she could tell people her name was really “Charlize”.  We’re not keeping her, though, and she’ll go to a new home this weekend, so I’m not sure what her name will ultimately end up being.

We often make the “Sorry, Charlie” joke around here, but Dirty Sanchez jokes are strictly forbidden!

  6. Ha!  Well just the fact that you *know* what dirty sanchez jokes are indicts you!

    Love trhe back story, thanks.

And I’m sad little Char-lie/lize is hitting the road.  That is one fine cat.

(no offense to the other cuties)

I want the pic of her with her tongue out to be my new desktop wallpaper.

  7. I think the “outtakes” are great, they really show their personalities.  Cat photography is harder than it looks!

  8. I gotta know: How do the two who imbibe ask for a side order of milk from a bottle?

  9. Diana, the next time you want a side-order of milk from a bottle, just stand between the feet of the “waitress” and mew pitifully.  If she doesn’t pay attention, chew on her toe, as if to say, “Look, I’m still hungry, dammit!”  The kittens say this always works.

All four are completely weaned now… no bottles for the past 48 hours :)

  10. Seriously, SOOOOOO CUUUUTE!  How do you deal with the cute overload?  What is the name of the one on the upper right?  He/she has the sweetest face.

  11. The little one in the upper-right of the first image is “Anya”, named after the character from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  She’s such a runt, about half the size of her siblings, and I was afraid she would die when we first brought her home.  So, we named her after a demon to give her a little energy boost ;-)  I love this photo of her, too:  http://flickr.com/photos/mudpuppy/191430532

We’ve come to the conclusion that kittens hit the “adorable” mark right around 5 weeks, and then they get exponentially cuter.  That’s when you need to send them off to new homes quickly, so you don’t fall in love.

  12. They’ve growed up so fast! So you sent ‘em all to pictor retakes, huh? My beans like candids. These kitties are cute whever they cooperate or not.

Mom, if I look cute an nibble yur toes, can I haf a bottle? Hmm, ok how bout a treat instead? Puleeze?

  13. Hey Victor, I enjoyed your “tub hockey” video on your blog.  I’m quite the hockey fan myself, although it would look rather odd to see grown men on skates smacking a puck around in a bathtub.  Best to leave actual tub hockey to the cat professionals, I guess.
