The lost blog entry
There was a very long blog entry right here, but my browser froze and I lost it. Long story short, it said canned cat food = smaller poops/less frequent poops/less smelly poops = less litterbox scooping/less cat litter used = happy me. My “experiement” with the cats and canned food is now six weeks old and I’ve been very pleased with the results. Chelsea and Derek have lost weight, too!
Please tell me what you are feeding. Glad you found a winning combination!
Posted by vetmommy on 05/07 at 06:35 PMGlad it’s working out well for you. I’m finding the same with Salem—less to scoop from the box, and he’s down to 12.6 pounds as of his vet visit last weekend, which is great. Salem *loves* the Grammy’s Pot Pie flavor you recommended, and in his little fuzzy heart I’m sure he thanks you for mentioning the Merrick food to me! :)

Posted by Maggie on 05/08 at 05:56 PMVetMommy, I rewrote my long blog entry last night, so it contains all my observations about cat food. Not scientific, but very anecdotal.
Helena, glad the Merrick is working for you—we’re now in a bit of a “Turducken” craze around here, but any of the poultry foods are popular!
Maggie, I tried my cats on a number of different foods and Merrick seemed to be their favourite. They’re now using organic chicken in all their chicken flavours, and that’s really all my cats eat. Sometimes I get the cats to eat the more “blended” types of canned food, but they do enjoy the chunks in the Merrick. I know Nutro is a great food, though, and I think Wellness is also excellent.
