Victory over the cats at last
Eli is a wonderful German shepherd, very sweet and gentle, and always very submissive with the cats. There are times I’ll find her “trapped” in the hallway, if there’s a cat in the direction she’s heading and she wants to avoid a confrontation. The poor girl always loved to sleep on our little, second-hand loveseat, but once all the new cats arrived (last January), her favourite sleeping spot was taken over. Covered in scratching mats, cat toys, and cats, Eli was left to sleep on the floor.
I was tidying up the TV room a couple of days ago so I could put up the Christmas tree, and I picked up the “dog bed” from beside the loveseat, and put it up on the loveseat to free up some floor space. The first night, Derek the cat moved in and centered himself in the middle of the bed, so Eli had no floor bed and still no loveseat. Last night, though, she put her paw down, and reclaimed her rightful place on the furniture. She’s on the dog bed, on the loveseat cover, and on the loveseat, surrounded by catnip mats, but dammit, she’s finally comfy.

Way to go Eli!
